A professionally curated collection of evidence-based comfort tools and guided resources to support a more confident labour.
Why I Created the Birth Comfort Kit
As a birth doula and counselling hypnotherapist practising Ericksonian hypnosis, I've had the privilege of supporting families through one of the most transformative experiences of their lives. One thing I've learned is that confidence in labour isn't created in the moment, it begins long before contractions ever start.
Too often, I meet parents who are told about comfort measures during a prenatal class or while they're already in labour, when it's difficult to absorb new information or make thoughtful decisions. They know they want to feel prepared, but they're unsure which tools are genuinely helpful and which are simply marketed as "must-haves."
I created the Birth Comfort Kit to bridge that gap.
Rather than offering a TENS machine on its own, I wanted to curate a collection of practical, evidence-informed tools that work together to support both the body and the mind. The professional-grade labour ELLE TENS2, acupressure tools, and customized guided hypnosis recording each serve a different purpose, but together they help you become familiar with techniques you can confidently draw upon when labour begins.
My approach to birth has always been rooted in choice, preparation, and trust in your own ability to navigate the unknown. Ericksonian hypnosis teaches us that every person already possesses inner strengths and resources, they simply need the right environment to access them. Birth preparation should do the same. It's not about striving for a "perfect" birth or promising a pain-free experience. It's about feeling informed, supported, adaptable, and empowered to meet whatever path your birth takes.
Whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural, or a planned cesarean, my hope is that this kit helps you approach your baby's birth feeling more prepared, more confident, and more connected to yourself. 🤍

Practical tips for using your TENS effectively during labour
Small But Mighty!
Labour combs and acupressure orbs offer a natural way to cope with contractions. By applying steady pressure to the hands, they stimulate pressure points and provide a competing sensory input that can help shift your focus and support your body's natural pain-coping mechanisms.
This is not another generic "hypnobirthing" script that has very little to do with actual hypnotherapy. Unfortunately listening to same track on the loop will not get you the results you'd like. This recording is customized and tailored specially to YOU and YOUR NEEDS.

Frequently Asked Questions When should I reserve my Birth Comfort Kit? I recommend reserving your kit between **30–35 weeks of pregnancy** to ensure availability. Your rental period is up to **5 weeks**, giving you plenty of time to have everything ready before labour begins. --- When should I start using the TENS machine? The TENS machine is most effective during **early labour**, when contractions are becoming regular but are still manageable. Starting early allows your body time to respond to the gentle electrical stimulation and may help you stay comfortable and active for longer. --- Can I use the TENS machine if I plan to have an epidural? Absolutely. Many parents use a TENS machine during the early stages of labour before choosing an epidural. It can also be helpful while waiting for your epidural or during early induction. --- Can I use the TENS machine during a home birth or birth centre birth? Yes. The TENS machine is suitable for home births, birth centres, and hospital births. It's lightweight, portable, and allows you to remain mobile throughout labour. --- Can I use the TENS machine if I'm having a planned cesarean birth? A TENS machine is designed for use during labour and is generally not used during a planned cesarean birth. However, the Birth Comfort Kit also includes guided relaxation recordings and comfort tools that many parents find helpful while preparing for surgery and the birth of their baby. --- Is the TENS machine safe for my baby? Yes. When used as directed during labour, a labour-specific TENS unit is considered safe for both parent and baby. The electrodes are placed on your lower back—not on your abdomen—and the electrical stimulation remains localized. If you have a pacemaker, certain cardiac conditions, epilepsy, or other medical concerns, please consult your healthcare provider before using a TENS machine. --- Does a TENS machine eliminate labour pain? No. A TENS machine isn't designed to eliminate pain entirely. Instead, many parents find it helps make contractions more manageable by providing a different sensory input, encouraging the release of endorphins, and giving them something active they can control throughout labour. Every labour is unique, and each person responds differently. --- What are the Labour Comb and Acupressure Orbs for? These simple tools provide firm pressure to the hands during contractions, stimulating pressure points and creating competing sensory input that may help you cope more comfortably with labour. They're easy to use alongside your TENS machine, breathing techniques, movement, or water therapy. --- Do I need previous experience to use the kit? Not at all. Everything is designed with first-time users in mind. Your kit includes clear instructions, and the guided resources will help you become familiar with the tools before labour begins. --- Why are hypnosis recordings included? Birth preparation isn't only physical—it is also mental and emotional. The guided hypnosis recordings are designed to help you practise relaxation, build confidence, reduce fear, and become familiar with techniques that can support you throughout pregnancy and labour. Rather than relying on a single track during labour, regular practice beforehand helps create familiarity and confidence when you need it most. --- What happens if my baby arrives earlier than expected? If your baby decides to make an early appearance before your scheduled pickup, please contact me as soon as possible. I'll do my best to arrange an earlier pickup or delivery whenever availability allows. --- What if I haven't gone into labour before my rental period ends? Babies don't always arrive on schedule! If your due date passes and your Birth Comfort Kit is due back, simply get in touch. If the kit hasn't already been reserved for another family, I'm happy to discuss extending your rental. --- What if I decide not to use the TENS machine? That's completely okay. Every labour unfolds differently. The Birth Comfort Kit gives you options—not expectations. Even if you choose different comfort measures during labour, you'll still have had the opportunity to prepare and explore what feels right for you. --- How do I return the kit? Once your baby has arrived, simply contact me to arrange a convenient return. The kit can be dropped off in Downtown Vancouver or picked up within Vancouver if that option was arranged. --- Is the equipment cleaned between rentals? Yes. Every TENS unit and reusable component is thoroughly cleaned and inspected before each rental. New electrode pads and fresh batteries are included with every kit. --- Can I claim the rental through my extended health benefits? Some extended health plans may reimburse birth-related equipment or doula services. An itemized invoice is available upon request, but reimbursement depends on your individual insurance provider and policy. --- I have another question. I'm always happy to help. If you have questions about the Birth Comfort Kit, using the TENS machine, or preparing for labour, please don't hesitate to reach out.
